One Cell At A Time, Wellcome Trust, 2021

[Community engagement lead and creative producer - client project]

One Cell At A Time was an exhibition inviting audiences to explore our growing understanding of the trillions of cells that make up the human body, and the role we play in pioneering scientific discovery. It was the result of an ambitious programme of public engagement activities with the Human Cell Atlas initiative. I worked with artists Baum & Leahy on the London public engagement programme.

As the creative producer for the London programme, I worked closely with award-winning artists Baum & Leahy on a community-engagement programme in Peckham exploring the role of rituals and ceremonies in our understanding of our own bodies. After months of close work with our local advisory panel and two public workshops, the programme culminated in a performance at the Copleston Church and Community Centre, to mark the launch of ‘Sensory Cellumonials’, a new digital artwork by the artists.

Curated by Dr Suzy O’Hara, funded by Wellcome and led by Wellcome Sanger Institute
